What you read, watch and listen to as well as those people you associate with ultimately defines you. This is why it is so important you put the good, the positive and the motivational into your mind. Your mind needs food just as your physical body needs food. Just like there is good and bad food to eat that affects your physical body positively or negatively there is good and bad food for your mind. Actually what you eat also has an impact on your mind in addition to what type of mental food you take in, but that's another discussion.
Be sure the mental nutrition you feed your mind is of highest quality. Make sure in your reading you get a generous helping of inspirational and motivational stories which demonstrate good moral character and judgement. Autobiography's and Biography's can be a good source of positive mind food.
What we listen to impacts our state of mind and how we see the world around us. Music now days with with the advent of ipods and the like allow us and especially our children access to wide varieties of music and lyrics. Some lyrics are just plain trash and as parents we have to monitor what our kids listen to not to mention ourselves. You can at least control what they listen to when they are in your home so you set some sort of example. Plus by feeding your childrens minds with good positive motivational food for thought on a daily basis you will help develop their minds in a positive way.
Television and movies have never been better as far as quality, acting and special effects. However content certainly is suspect. Choose your movies so you get a regular helping of the motivational and positive ones. Movies where good wins over evil. Especially movies you take your children to. Constantly work towards feeding your mind helpings of goodness, positivity, morality and character when reading, listening or watching.
Be careful in choosing the people you associate with. They will affect you positively or negatively depending on what that individuals mental diet has been over their lifetime. You tend to become like those you associate with so associate with those who will make a positive impact on you and the world around them.
Setting goals is of paramount importance which positively impacts your mind. Set a Goal. Write it down. Put a date on it for completion. Now feed this goal to your mind daily. Keep it constantly on your mind. Read it out load daily. This will almost certainly guarantee you accomplishing it when mixed with determined persistence.
We will talk more about goal setting in this blog as time goes on. However to start with it is important to understand that what you put into your mind has an impact on you. If you put the good stuff in, you get the good stuff out. If you put garbage in, you get garbage out. It is as simple as that.
